Because Cody and Jessica were getting married on the 17th in San Diego, we had to pack in our Utah Christmas fun before heading south for the remainder of the holiday and year.
Our ward held a Christmas dinner and talent night the first week of December. It is fun to see the ward growing in numbers, and in friendship. Nani, Kea, and Samara performed Mele Kalikimaka... a number they had been learning from Siona. They did such a good job. :)
Our family with Santa Pauni.
We have a tradition of heading up to the Salt Lake temple to see the lights every year. It was so much fun to go with older, independent, tough to cold weather kids... that we laughed to ourselves when we realized we would have a baby next year. I guess we can enjoy that fun in another 4 years. :)
Every year our stake puts on a living nativity play and has animals that would have been present in Bethlehem. It is usually held in the provo Tabernacle, but with it catching fire... that was not possible. (We are SO looking forward to watching our loved tabernacle become a temple of the Lord though!) They simply showed a video of the living nativity and had hot cocoa and barnyard animals outside of the Stake center for everyone to enjoy.
Matching dresses that waited for nearly a year to be worn... awesome JC Penney find in February of 2011. :)
Our clever little girls made up a play of Santa and the reindeer...
Nani, Kea, and Samara all participated in Siona's polynesian dance class and had a performance at an old folk's home. My neighbor Nancy and I made their costumes. It made me wish for the talent of sewing.
My beautiful, grown up nani dancing with puili sticks. She really stepped up this year and became a leader in class... (you know, the one everyone else peeks out of the corner of their eye to follow...) :)
Never shy Samara doing her tahitian number.
Little Hula Kea... what a smile!
Nani, Ilaisaane, Tehani, Kea, and Samara... Hopoate cousins. (Samara really needed to use the bathroom, but we needed the shot! Poor thing.)
